Money Matters
Emma – reduced household income
Emma's story
At the start of one of the most exciting journeys in life – parenthood – Emma found herself needing to cut down her hours at work before maternity leave in order to look after her health. But unfortunate circumstances meant that her husband lost his job at the same time. The household income was reduced and they began to struggle to afford monthly bills, including her Bumper repayments.
How Bumper helped
Emma contacted the Bumper support team to explain her situation and to seek further advice.
The support team showed care and consideration as Emma explained her situation.
They set up a temporary repayment arrangement at a lower monthly amount to ensure Emma was able to repay her Bumper loan whilst she contacted StepChange for further financial advice.
Once Emma had spoken to StepChange, the support team asked that she contact them with the StepChange action plan so they could understand if any further support was needed.
Emma contacted Bumper before the temporary repayment arrangement came to an end advising that she had entered a debt management plan with StepChange.
The support team now liaise directly with StepChange when collecting Emma’s repayments.
Words from Emma: “You guys have honestly been amazing. I’m very grateful for your support as we didn’t think we would be in this position”
