PayLater Terms and Conditions
Key information about PayLater from Bumper
Thank you for considering PayLater from Bumper.
PayLater is an interest-free credit product provided by Bumper International Limited. It allows eligible customers to spread the cost of goods or services provided by a participating merchant into instalments.
Bumper International Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for consumer credit activities. Our Firm Reference Number is 1024048. You can check our details on the Financial Services Register.
These terms explain the key information you should know before applying for PayLater. If your application is approved, you will be shown the full agreement before you decide whether to proceed. That agreement will include the specific details of your purchase, including the merchant, cash price, number of instalments, repayment amounts and repayment dates.
Who can use PayLater?
To use PayLater, you must:
be a UK resident;
be aged 18 or over;
provide accurate and complete information as part of your application;
have a valid payment card in your name; and
read and agree to the final PayLater agreement before entering into it.
PayLater is subject to application and approval. We will only enter into an agreement with you if we are satisfied, acting reasonably, that the credit is affordable for you.
How does PayLater work?
PayLater allows you to spread the cost of eligible goods or services from a participating merchant over instalments.
There is no interest and there are no fees for using PayLater, provided you make your payments on time.
Before you enter into a PayLater agreement, we will show you the key details of your proposed plan, including:
the cash price of the goods or services;
the total amount payable;
the number of instalments;
the amount and date of each repayment;
the payment method;
the merchant providing the goods or services; and
any important rights or protections that apply.
You should read the full agreement carefully before accepting it. By accepting the agreement, you will be legally bound by its terms.
Creditworthiness and affordability checks
Before agreeing to provide credit, we will carry out a creditworthiness assessment. This helps us consider whether the repayments are likely to be affordable for you without causing financial difficulty.
We may use information you provide to us, information we already hold about you, and information from one or more credit reference agencies.
We may decline your application if we are not satisfied that the credit is affordable or appropriate for you.
How repayments are made
Repayments are usually collected automatically from the payment card you provide when entering into the agreement.
This is done using a recurring card payment, also known as a Continuous Payment Authority or CPA.
You may cancel a CPA at any time by contacting your bank or by contacting us. Cancelling the CPA does not cancel your PayLater agreement and does not remove your obligation to repay any amount you owe. If you cancel your CPA, we will work with you to agree an alternative way to pay.
What happens if you miss a payment?
If you miss a payment, we will contact you to discuss the missed payment and what happens next.
A late payment fee may apply if a scheduled payment is not made within 7 days of the date it is due. The fee will be the lesser of £20 or 10% of the total amount of credit.
Missing payments can have serious consequences. They may make it harder or more expensive for you to obtain credit in the future, and your account may be referred to a debt collection agency or, as a last resort, to court.
If you are worried about making a payment, please contact us as early as possible. We will take account of any financial difficulty or vulnerability you tell us about and will consider what support may be appropriate.
Credit reference agencies
We may share information about your application and your PayLater agreement with credit reference agencies. This may include whether you make your repayments on time, and whether you miss payments or fall into arrears.
Information about how you manage your agreement may appear on your credit file and may be visible to other lenders.
Your right to withdraw
If you enter into a PayLater agreement, you will have the right to withdraw from that agreement within 14 days, without giving any reason.
If you withdraw, you must repay the credit provided to you. Because PayLater is interest-free, no interest will be charged.
Withdrawing from your PayLater agreement does not automatically cancel your underlying contract for goods or services with the merchant. You should contact the merchant if you wish to discuss cancellation, returns or refunds relating to the goods or services.
Section 75 protection
Where the cash price of the goods or services is more than £100 and not more than £30,000, you may have rights under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
This means you may have a claim against Bumper as well as the merchant if the goods or services are misrepresented, faulty, not as described, or not supplied.
