Asim – injury resulting in time off work

Asim's story

Asim was unfortunately injured at work, leaving him with nerve damage. This resulted in a significant period of unemployment and reduced income. Due to this, Asim was behind on most of his bills resulting in his debt piling up.



How Bumper helped


Asim had been struggling for some time to make his repayments towards Bumper, after receiving a voicemail from Bumper he felt comfortable contacting the support team to discuss his situation.  


Bumper was able to help Asim continue to make repayments towards his agreement. This resulted in setting up a temporary repayment arrangement. This meant Asim could still make a small contribution to his agreement each month whilst seeking financial advice.   


The support team referred Asim to a debt management company, StepChange.  


A few days later, Asim contacted Bumper to provide a StepChange reference number. 


After receiving the reference number, the support team made the required adjustments to Asim’s application preventing any further communication until StepChange made contact.  


StepChange contacted Bumper and confirmed Asim had entered into a debt management plan.  


The support team now liaise directly with StepChange when collecting Asim’s repayments.

  • A temporary repayment arrangement is a reduced repayment for an agreed period. The amount and number of repayments will vary depending on individual circumstances. 

  • A new repayment arrangement is a repayment plan that has been amended from the original repayment terms.

  • We are obliged to report the status of your PayLater plan to the credit reference agency every month. If you enter a repayment arrangement with Bumper, this will be reported on your credit file due to a change in the original payment terms.  Please note, this is not classed as a late payment.
